At 6 weeks pregnant you have not yet started showing but the symptoms you experience will be the out ward sign of what is going on inside your body. There is definitely a long journey ahead of you at 6 weeks pregnant and the symptoms will start being more and more pronounced. You are now sure that you are indeed pregnant and you should begin to prepare for the next few months and for the coming baby.
You have already noticed by now that you have had missed periods which you could have assumed they were only delayed. But the pregnancy test was positive. Your body will go through hormonal changes that will cause your body to respond and adapt to the pregnancy. Mood swings are another symptom that marks this stage of pregnancy and is usually severe at 6 weeks pregnant. You can manage some of these side effects by having supportive and understanding people around you.
You should have gained about a pound by now. This weight is usually noticed along the waist line as the baby is developing in the womb. Among the symptoms you will also experience will be morning sickness and nausea which should get better as you progress throughout your pregnancy.
Your breasts will start to become tenderer to touch and look swollen at 6 weeks pregnant. Light bleeding also known as spotting occurs at around this time but you may need to have yourself checked by the doctor in order to clear away any doubts about infection or any other complications.
Feeling tired all the time is another common occurrence at 6 weeks pregnant. The slightest activity you do will feel as if you have been up the whole night and day. Enough rest is therefore vital around this time. Darkening of the skin around the nipples is another sign of a 6 weeks pregnant woman.
These symptoms will vary from one woman to another, they may be more pronounced in one and less in the other but it is still normal. 6 weeks pregnant is the first trimester of the pregnancy. The symptoms will take you by surprise especially for first time mothers; but do not worry because they will subside by the end of the trimester.
The growing baby at 6 weeks pregnant is very small – about half the size of a bean seed. This is the embryonic stage because the baby to be is still developing at a very fast pace. Another amazing development at this stage is the development of the baby’s brain as well as the heart.
The brain size is actually bigger than those of its other organs. The heart has started pumping at the rate of a hundred fifty beats a minute. The location of the ears have started to form and can be seen. The other systems like the respiratory and digestive are also in their early stages of development.
